1.)    Allow a tail of 10" at the beginning of the binding and another tail of 10" at the end of the binding.

Leave an opening of at least 10" between beginning and end of the quilt binding.

2.) Fold each tail back and leave a ΒΌ" space between the folded edges.

(White paper has been inserted behind the folded back binding for clarity in the photograph.)

4.) Open the scrap of binding that was trimmed away from the left tail and lay it on the right side.  Align the edge of the scrap with the folded edge of the right tail of binding.

Excess binding will be to the right of the opened binding scrap.

6.) Remove the binding scrap and the trimmed away excess right tail.  Your binding should look like this.

Leave the right tail folded back.  Take the lower right corner of the left and right binding tails and place them right sides together.  Pin.

7.) Your binding should now look like this.  Sew a diagonal seam as shown and lay quilt flat.

Binding should lay down perfect.  If it does, trim excess from the final diagonal seam and finger press the seam allowance open.

Lay quilt flat and sew remaining binding to the quilt.  Finish binding.
